Thermal transfer printing is a highly common method of printing used for appliances – particularly household. These can include telephones, microwaves, washing machines, remote controls and many more.
The print is often used to display a date of manufacture, manufacturer details, serial and batch numbers, any approvals or certifications the product has and safety details such as electrical input. This information can usually be found on a label at the base or back of the product.
These types of labels will need to be long-lasting and match the lifespan of the product itself.
Appliances are often used frequently and sometimes come into contact with steam, heat and cleaning agents. Therefore, the print needs to withstand all of these and will need to be chemical, scratch and smudge resistant.
